Old Magazine Journalism Clips

This is a “Greatest Hits” of Journalism Clips from my early magazine work. Mostly they are travel pieces for International Wristwatch Magazine (iW) and Stylus Magazine followed by pretty much everything I wrote for Vegetarian Times when starting out. My two nutritional charts, one for 16 Grains and one for 40 Vegetables, are especially useful and a great point of pride.

Writing about luxury in Aruba, I took all of these photos (and proposed to my wife on the ruins of a pirate castle along the way, January 2009).

While traveling with my future wife in Italy, I learned about the tradition of paper-making, Florentine-style! (July 2008).

Invited my Panerai to cover the Yachting Classic in Antigua (April, 2006) that they sponsored. All photos by me except for the ones I am in.

Invited by Parmigiani to cover the hot-air ballooning event they sponsored in Gstaad, Switzerland (January, 2006). All photos by me except for ones I am in.

Invited by A. Lange & Sohn to tour their factory outside of Dresden, Germany in Glaschutte (December, 2005). All photos by me except for the ones I am in.

Invited by Parmigiani to cover the hot-air ballooning event they sponsored in Albuquerque, New Mexico (Sept-Oct, 2005). All photos by me except the ones I am in.

Invited by Seiko to tour their factory on Lake Suwa in the Nagano region Japan (June 2005). Most photos by me except for ones I am in.

A few random articles from 2001 in Vegetarian Times. An article on a therapeutic herb, a follow-up to story I initially broke on McDonald’s fries, and my last reviews for the mag.

My intensely researched nutritional Grain Chart from March, 2001 (VT).

An article I wrote about the health benefits of Wasabi that nothing came of and my short piece about McDonald’s using beef in their fries under the term “natural ingredients” also from 2001 (VT).

An especially useful article I wrote and researched on what fruits/vegetables are most essential to buy organically, from 2001 (VT).

The first book reviews I ever published; along with two other random pieces. I reviewed Fast Food Nation when it first came out, also 2001 (VT).

My first published article/byline for Vegetarian Times. Cristin wrote the text and I did all the research, on the phone constantly to the USDA to compile all the essential nutritional information on forty different fruits/vegetables.
